Overview

Data protection compliance is an essential legal requirement for all organisations.

Since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in May 2018, it is more vital than ever that everyone who works with personal data understands the laws and acts in compliance, as the penalties can be severe. 

What you will learn

This course is split into 4 manageable units:

  1. Current data protection legislation, and how it is applied
  2. Organisational procedures concerning data.
  3. Possible threats to ICT systems and data, and how to protect against them.
  4. Consequences of not protecting data, and the impact of possible breaches.

Fully funded subject to meeting the eligibility criteria:

  • Live in the West Midlands, Greater London or Tees Valley
  • Been in the UK or EU for three years for purposes other than study
  • 19+ at the start of the academic year (19-23-year-olds must have Level 2 prior attainment)
  • Not on an apprenticeship
  • Not completed any part of the course before
  • Employer declaration required for those on low wage
